Celebrant Services

Celebrant Services

Many times a family may not know how to proceed in planning a funeral or memorial service for their loved one because they do not have a clergyperson or other officiate.

Through our sister company, DeJohn Funeral Homes, we have three Certified Life Celebrants on staff who can help provide meaning and personalization to your service. Patrick Creek, Danni Hubbard & Kris Henige have completed extensive training and have assisted numerous families that we have the privilege to serve in planning their loved one’s final tribute.

A family who chooses this option will meet with the Certified Celebrant to discuss their loved one’s personality, significant times, and memories of their life. The Celebrant will then compose and present a personalized service that truly reflects the true essence of the life being celebrated that day. Some of the optional tributes that a family may choose to add to a service are readings of favorite passages, videos, meaningful songs, or personal messages spoken by family or friends. Although the Certified Celebrants are not clergy members, the services can include religious references or be completely secular.

Whether the service involves a traditional burial or a cremation, the opportunity to celebrate a loved one’s life in this manner has been very valuable to many families. They otherwise may have chosen not to have a service and would not have experienced the closure that gathering and sharing with friends and family can bring.

The second selection is what the cremated remains will be placed in after the cremation. We carry a wide variety of urns that are constructed for permanent memorialization and a variety of urns for temporary memorialization prior to scattering. Urns are constructed of metal, stone, wood, ceramics and biodegradable materials. Many of the urns may be personalized. If an urn is not selected, the cremated remains will be returned in a temporary container constructed of cardboard.

“Danni – Not sure that I can put into words the eulogy that you wrote. You are so creative, gifted and your level of detail was evident as you wrote our story about Aunt Pearl. I am sure you could tell how special she was to us and now everyone else understands after listening to you. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it a simply beautiful service. Finally, I will always look at a “PEARL” differently and so will everyone else in that room as they now have one to hold and remember her by… Top-Notch, Thank you!” – Lisa Michalk

“I have been getting comments all week as to what a wonderful celebrant you (Patrick Creek) were and are. They were surprised by how much of Bob’s life you actually talked about since I guess others have had unfavorable experiences with ministers. Thank you for the final copy of the service and for the candle. I am lucky to be so close to the cemetery so I’ve visited Bob several times – once to wash off all the beer that friends have been drinking with him! So, time to move on. I just wanted you to know I can’t express how thankful we were to find you to be the celebrant for the service. God Bless You!” – Barb Rasmussen
